Lake Macquarie Retaining Walls grew out of years of hands-on work holding back earth on some of the trickiest ground in the Hunter. So much of the region falls away toward the water or sits on a genuine hillside, and we saw how often walls were being put up without the drainage or the engineering they actually needed. We set out to do it the right way instead: match the material to the block, match the material and build to the engineered design where the load requires it, and build a real drainage system behind every one. Over the years we have levelled sloping blocks for usable yards, carved out driveways and building pads, and rectified walls that were bulging because water had nowhere to go. Today we work across Belmont, Charlestown, Warners Bay, Toronto, Morisset and the surrounding suburbs, and word of mouth keeps us busy. The lake shapes almost every job we do, and knowing the local ground is a big part of getting a wall right.

The business is led by Steve Smith, who has spent more than twelve years building retaining walls and coordinating engineered designs where required. Steve has worked across every common material and just about every ground condition, from soft low-lying blocks near the water to reactive clay and firmer sandstone founding. He runs each job personally, so the person who quotes your wall is the same person making sure it is built properly. Steve's view is simple: a retaining wall is only as good as its footings and its drainage, and he will always tell you straight what your block needs.
